VA and DC part 2

We just got the pictures of the rest of our trip to VA and DC downloaded to the computer, so, I'm gonna finish posting the rest of those pics. Thanks for viewing!!!!! Callie, Grandmama, and Gma Harris went
to the Iwo Jima Monument.

Grandpa Harris fought at Iwo Jima. The saying above sums up the kind of soldier and person I think Grandpa H. was. He was a soldier for Christ, and his Country!

Back on the Metro!!!
There's that "Disgruntled Metro Rider" again! Four generations at Union StationMama in front of Godiva Chocolate - Yum!

Our next stop was the Museum of Natural History!

Deeda wanted her picture taken in front of the "hornfish" She meant swordfish.

Of course, I enjoyed the insect exhibits! Oooh, you think you're tough, don't ya! CJ had his picture taken with the Buffalo for Andrew and Joey!

WOW, Pretty!Abby and her birds!Wierd, huh??? I think it's an unpolished Zircon--My birthstone!!!

A note from Molly:Grandmama Harris had some research she wanted to do at the National Archives. She wanted to have the year of death changed for her brother, Lloyd Whitley, who was shot down during WW II. She found out that only the records prior to WW I were at the National Archives and was directed to somewhere in MD for more recent military records. I thought it was admirable that she wanted to do that for her deceased brother.Another note from Molly: At about this point in the day we had done ALOT of walking! Grandmother Harris and Mama were getting a little giddy. Mama commented : "Now this is the way to see Washington DC when your feet are so tired they are going to detach from your legs!" And the distinguished Grandmother Harris chimed in: "Ah, but it's so much more adventurous this way!" We were all laughing very hard at this point!

Look - Daddy's comin'!!Daddy came up so that he could drive us home so Mama didn't have to!
Our next stop was the National Marine Corps Museum in Quantico, VA

A note from Molly: The visit to the Marine Corp. Museum seemed a little difficult for Grandmother Harris. It was as if she stepped back in time more than 60 years . To me it seemed the look on her face was as if she was reliving that time all over in her mind. It was a special, good visit for her and all of us to see how all Marines were honored in this great museum. We are eternally GRATEFUL for the tremendous sacrifice made on our behalf by all Marines, but one especially dear to our hearts - my Grandfather, Iwo Jima survivor, Kye Harris.

4 Generations of Grateful AmericansOn the way we stopped at the Rappahannak River!!! A river with a lot of history behind it. The Union soldiers crossed it during the Battle at Fredericksburg during The War Between The States

On our way home, we stopped at the Fredricksburg Battlefield.At the Fredricksburg BattlefieldCallie Susie!!!:):):)Mmmm! Time for Dinner--Steak!!!!!

Wills and CJ got plenty of use out of the free "horse" ride! Wills is obviously excited!WAAAHH!!! Time to say goodbye to RG!!!! See ya in July!

At the hotel, Wills decided to hitch a ride!Yum!!! BBQ! We're ALMOST home!!!
