Where The Orange Blossoms Grow....

Hello! Welcome to the Stricklen's blog. We hope to keep our family and friends up to date with what is going on with our family. You will find a variety of experiences posted here -- you may find pictures of the never ending project of building our house, Callie helping William with his first steps, Mary studying a rare insect species, or perhaps you may be terribly bored with Molly's numerous fruit trees, berries, vegetables and rare plant pictures! Who knows what we may find Chris and CJ doing -- probably something having to do with a tractor or machine of sorts. Abby and Margaret will keep us entertained with costumes from other lands or a fairy story. Whatever we post, we trust it will lift your spirits and bring honor and glory to our Lord!

Winter Garden

Thanks to my wonderful husband, we finally have the raised bed garden I have been wanting for quite some time. Chris, the girls and CJ did all the fencing together. He built 16 raised beds and will probably add some more on the outside of the garden and a few more inside.

This is just a trial run, we just planted this and that here and there. We received our heirloom seed order only recently. So next season we will be planting all heirloom varities. Everything is growing organically as well. Here are a few pictures of what is growing!

Oh, Molly! It's just beautiful! I know you have waited very patiently for this garden, and I'm delighted that it turned out so well!

Great job on the fence and raised beds, Chris!

The veggies look so delicious, and I'm sure they taste that way!

Love,
Katie

It's disappointing to see y'alls place so run down since we left..... You'd think y'all would do SOMETHING to change the appearance of the back yard. Just kidding of course :). It looks incredible, I didn't even recognize it was y'alls yard untill I saw the house in the background.

Those veggies aren't just wearin' purty faces either...they taste GREAT!

I don't even like greens, but the delicious greens I had on Thanksgiving made me change my mind. Fresh from Molly's garden, they were so tender and flavorful!

Oh! and good job, slave boy, Chris! ha ha
