Where The Orange Blossoms Grow....

Hello! Welcome to the Stricklen's blog. We hope to keep our family and friends up to date with what is going on with our family. You will find a variety of experiences posted here -- you may find pictures of the never ending project of building our house, Callie helping William with his first steps, Mary studying a rare insect species, or perhaps you may be terribly bored with Molly's numerous fruit trees, berries, vegetables and rare plant pictures! Who knows what we may find Chris and CJ doing -- probably something having to do with a tractor or machine of sorts. Abby and Margaret will keep us entertained with costumes from other lands or a fairy story. Whatever we post, we trust it will lift your spirits and bring honor and glory to our Lord!

Brooksville Raid 2009

We missed everyone at the Brooksville Raid this year! This was our 4th year going and we enjoyed it as much as ever, although we missed not seeing family and friends.
Attendance seemed to be up this year. It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a Civil War Reenactment!

William is enjoying the battle

Mommy is enjoying Wills :)

You know you go to Reenactments to ride ponies, don't you?

We get weak in our old age! Can't say no as easily :)

Wonder what they are laughing at?

You guessed it! The 97th Regimental String Band keeps
us in stitches when we are there!

See you next year!

Great pictures y'all!!! Thanks for posting. Looks like y'all had a wonderful time. Wow! The Brooksville Raid is ALOT bigger than the Andersonville Reenactment! :-)

CJ, you look sharp in your uniform, I bet you can't wait until you can reenact, right.

What beautiful pictures of the girls. Looks like you had a great time! I didn't know they had pony rides! I'm sure Emma Jane would have been on one if we had gone :) Glad you had such a nice time.

Everyone looks beautiful, males excluded, of course! CJ looked quite dashing in his Confederate officer's uniform. He makes his Miller cousins proud! Looks like it was a perfect day for a re-enactment.

We were planning on coming, but we were planning on coming the week after the actual reenactment, which means we missed the whole thing!! That's what happens when you're so on top of things, NOT! Looks like a great time and love the pics. Margaret looks wonderful in pink.

Love ya and have a great time on your trip & tell the whiddons hello.
