Where The Orange Blossoms Grow....

Hello! Welcome to the Stricklen's blog. We hope to keep our family and friends up to date with what is going on with our family. You will find a variety of experiences posted here -- you may find pictures of the never ending project of building our house, Callie helping William with his first steps, Mary studying a rare insect species, or perhaps you may be terribly bored with Molly's numerous fruit trees, berries, vegetables and rare plant pictures! Who knows what we may find Chris and CJ doing -- probably something having to do with a tractor or machine of sorts. Abby and Margaret will keep us entertained with costumes from other lands or a fairy story. Whatever we post, we trust it will lift your spirits and bring honor and glory to our Lord!

One Year Old!!

I can't believe a year has passed since William was born. What a blessing that little bundle of joy is! So full of life and curious about everything! I believe he will be a mighty man of God. What we are instilling in our children's lives daily will indeed last a lifetime.I thank the Lord for this beautiful blessing --
William Pearce Stricklen.
We had a lovely celebration with many family and friends in attendance for the royal celebration!

Mother's Day!

On Sunday we celebrated Mother's Day. We had a great time together! The mothers, (and Grandaddy Kitty.) played Croquet while the rest of us (Mary(me), Grace, Sarah, Callie, and Pete, and bunches of little kids) used a tarp with a string tied to each side, to make a parachute sort of thing, and it pulled us in the wagon with wind power! It was so windy, that our sail even pulled the golf cart! Peter wanted to make sure we all knew that it was his idea, so us girls don't take all the credit! As we whizzed down Estes Road, the few people who live near us were congregated on thier porch watching what we consider fun--I'm sure we looked crazy! Also, another treat was that Grandma Harris joined us! That was such a treat!!! Happy Mother's Day, Mothers--We love you!!!

(Your'e probably wondering why you hear mama talking in the background--That's because I can't figure out how to put video from the DVD recorder onto a blog post, so I played it on the computer, and recorded it with a regular camera, so you can't hear the real sound--If you could, Sarah would be screaming, It's really funny! )

Father Daughter Retreat at Callaway Gardens

"Daddy, I really enjoyed the FDR. Thank you so much for taking us! The sermons were good. My favorite part was probably the games. I also greatly enjoyed the bike ride through Callaway Gardens with the Whiddons. The whole thing was fun and I'm so glad I got to spend the weekend with you and my sisters. I love you!" Callie

"Daddy, Thank you for all the time and effort you put into making our lives more enjoyable and fulfilling. I enjoyed getting to know you better and especially seeing you jump rope! I love you, Daddy!" Mary

"Daddy, the FDR was a wonderful experience! I learned alot. I appreciated it when they explained the meaning of giving your heart fully to your Father while you are under his roof. My favorite part was the High Tea -- it was so fun to see you in your tea party manners! I love you!"
Abby

"Daddy, Thank you for taking us to the Retreat. I enjoyed our special time with you. My favorite sermon was about the Proverbs 31 woman. My favorite place to go was probably the Butterfly Garden. I loved the High Tea also. I hope we can go next year! I love you, Daddy!"

Margaret

Just arriving!!

The Father Daughter Unity Games

Learning to trust your father -- they had to follow his verbal instructions and do an obstacle course blind folded

"Do I really have to do this?"

"YES - you DO!!" A good team!
You had to listen to your fathers voice - no looking at the rope
When he said "Jump" that's when you jumped!

Anyone for a game of croquet??
